New Orleans: What To Do When It’s Not Mardi Gras

New Orleans is a city of epic proportions, known for its music, food, good times, and, most notably, Mardi Gras celebrations. Each year, thousands of people descend upon the city to “laissez les bons temps rouler”, throw beads, dress in fantastic costumes, and in general, enjoy total debauchery around Fat Tuesday. But what if this sort of event doesn’t appeal to you? Fortunately, New Orleans is a dynamic city that offers visitors all sorts of sites to see and places to visit, at any time, throughout the year.

French Quarter

The French Quarter is the quintessential heart of this historic city, with restaurants and jazz clubs lining Bourbon Street, and beautiful homes with incredible architecture that beg to be seen and photographed. Visitors can stroll the streets or take a horse-drawn buggy ride through them.

Jackson Square

If you stroll through the French Quarter you will come to Jackson Square, with the beautiful St. Louis Cathedral in the background. Street performers are at Jackson Square at all times, ready to read your palm or your fortune. Go in with an open mind and have some fun!

Garden District

New Orleans’ Garden District is a calmer and more peaceful side of the city as compared to the French Quarter. A variety of quaint and magnificent homes line the tree-filled streets, and Lafayette Cemetery, filled with ornate tombs.

Museums

It’s hard to pinpoint all the museums you can visit in New Orleans – we recommend this cumulative list, which includes a World War II museum as well as a sculpture garden among many others.

Restaurants

One thing you definitely don’t want to miss out on is the food in New Orleans. From beignets at Cafe du Monde to traditional gumbo and other Creole specialties, you can’t go wrong with feasting at every meal on your visit!

New Orleans is a city that is meant to be walked, but, if you’re in need of some time off the hoofers, consider Groundlink, the premier ground transportation black car service, able to get you to and from your destinations on time, every time.
